Julian plays Clarinet, Alto & Tenor Saxes and Sings - but the Clarinet is his passion and he is now recognised as the most stylish performer on the instrument in Europe.
He was voted 'Best Clarinettist' at the British Jazz Awards 2006 and 2007.
His major influences have been Artie Shaw, Peanuts Hucko, Buddy De Franco, Eddie Daniels, Oscar Peterson - and Delius!
Julian’s highly melodic music and unique sound reaches the younger audience while his soul, original writing and phenomenal technique on his instrument excites the jazz aficionados.
"The best clarinettist to emerge in British jazz for decades" - Sir John Dankworth.
Craig Milverton is firmly established as one of Britain’s Top Jazz Pianists.
"A master of whatever he chooses to perform", Humphrey Lyttleton,
"An extravagantly gifted pianist with an unrivalled sense of swing" Jazz CD of the Month, Dave Gelly, The Observer.
"The best pianist to come along in Britain in the last 2 decades, and the nearest to the great Oscar Peterson" Digby Fairweather.
Just three of the quotes extolling Craig's jazz talent. This has been recognised by winning the Jazz Piano Category of The British Jazz Awards in 2010.

BRUCE ADAMS (Trumpet and Flugelhorn):
Not only is Bruce one the jazz scene’s most dramatic and stimulating performers, he is also a tremendously affable companion. A band-room with the Glaswegian Mr. Adams present is a happy and riotous place. His stream of jokes, anecdotes, and hilarious observations reflect an early immersion in show-biz, and a keen eye and ear for the many quirks of human nature.
He cut his musical teeth on solid commercial work – on cruise liners, in dance halls, music halls, and even worked in support of comedy legends like, Tony Hancock and Freddie Starr. He has been a regular jazz poll-winner and with his spectacular range and power on the instrument is always in demand.
Bruce has often worked as a special guest soloist with both the Scottish Radio Orchestra and the BBC Big Band. Bruce’s long-running musical partnership with saxophonist Alan Barnes has produced many plaudits and acclaimed recordings.

People he has played with include Lillian Boutte (the official musical ambassador for New Orleans) and Pee Wee Ellis (James Brown's musical director), but he also loves to play with other great guitarists such as Jim Mullen, John Etheridge, Martin Taylor and Howard Alden.
Denny Comes from a very musical family. His father (Denny Ilett senior), who recently passed away, was a great trumpet player who made his name during the UK trad boom with Max Collie's Rhythm Aces.

Enrico Tomasso, son of the fine jazz clarinetist Ernie Tomasso was exposed to the best of jazz from when he was born and started playing the trumpet at the age of five. His father nurtured and encouraged him, passing on a lifetime of jazz study. He gave him every opportunity to meet and hear great musicians such as Benny Goodman, Dizzy Gillespie, Maynard Ferguson, the Basie and Ellington bands and many others.
His biggest inspiration was Louis Armstrong, whom he met and played for during Louis' visits to England in the sixties. This led to a correspondence and friendship until Louis' death. Rico is one of Britain's brightest and most versatile jazz stars. He spent twelve years with the Pasadena Roof Orchestra, and then a long stint with Ray Gelato. He also worked regularly with Acker Bilk and his Paramount Jazz Band.

Ian also featured in many popular Big Bands including Bach to Basie, Pasadena Roof Orchestra, Leslie Paula Salsa, Butch Miles and The Bateman Brothers (alongside his brother, Alan, on trumpet).

Simon Spillett has established himself as one of the UK’s top tenor saxophonists. Alongside his playing career, Simon is also a jazz author and reviewer, perhaps best known for his biography of Tubby Hayes ‘The Long Shadow of The Little Giant’. Although able to sound uncannily like Tubby when he chooses to, Simon’s palette is broader than just one player and he is also highly knowledgeable about the styles of other saxophonists such as Zoot Simms, Stan Getz, Dexter Gordon and John Coltraine.
He has won many awards including the tenor saxophone category of the British Jazz Awards (2011), Jazz Journal Magazine’s Critic’s Choice CD of the year (2009), Rising Star in the BBC Jazz Awards (2007), and Services to British Jazz in the 2016 British Jazz Awards.
One of his recent projects, Simon Spillett Big Band, features the cream of the UK jazz scene and dedicated to performing the arrangements of Tubby Hayes, many of which have not been heard performed live since Tubby passed away in 1973.

Over a career spanning more than 25 years, award winning jazz guitarist Nigel Price has become widely acknowledged as one of the hardest working musicians in the business.
Musically, his blend of flowing bebop lines, deep blues sensibility and his mastery of chording continue to delight audiences and fellow musicians alike. His career highlights include a support show for Gladys Knight at the Royal Albert Hall and an appearance on Van Morrison’s recent album Keep Me Singing.
Starting his professional career in his early 20s, Nigel toured Europe with various reggae and funk bands before settling on a solo guitar career and turning his attention to jazz. Citing early influences as Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Nigel honed his craft by attending gigs and sitting in with the players of the time.
Nigel has played on more than 50 albums including 5 as a leader, spent ten years with acid jazz outfit The Filthy Six, was a member of James Taylor’s band for 3 years (with whom he recorded 5 albums) and performed with the legendary David Axelrod. He has also taught at The International Guitar Foundation at King’s Place, London.
He has worked tirelessly to organise his own tours (including a 56 date tour in late 2016) and has picked up a Parliamentary Jazz Award (Best Jazz Ensemble, 2010), a nomination for a British Jazz Award (Best Guitarist, 2014) and a British Jazz Award (Best Guitarist, 2016) along the way.
Nigel is a regular performer at London’s Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club where he has made more than 500 appearances. He released his fifth Organ Trio Album Heads & Tales Volume 2 in late 2016 to great critical acclaim

Praised for her extensive repertoire list and intelligent ear for harmony, she brings a youthful, intuitive approach which sounds authentic in a variety of musical settings from New Orleans to bebop. Alex's sound is steeped in the tradition of jazz; her deep respect for the heritage of the music can be heard in a swinging, melodic approach reminiscent of Scott Hamilton and Lester Young, with strong influences of Phil Woods and Cannonball Adderley.
Back in 2018, Alex released her debut album “Mirage”, and in 2019, recorded an album with acclaimed jazz, blues and country vocalist/pianist TJ Johnson – with whom she works regularly – entitled “Songs from the Jazz Country”. As well as leading her own projects, Alex has performed alongside many notable names such as Gilad Atzmon, Greg Abate, Bruce Adams and Art Themen.
In Summer 2022, Alex is excited to be releasing her latest quartet album, featuring some of the UK’s finest musicians, namely Dave Newton, Dave Green and Clark Tracey.

Tobie is an extremely accomplished jazz violinist from South East London and active member of the British jazz scene. He has multiple credits for the BBC and is also director of both the Gypsy Jazz Festival of London and Future Fable Records.
After a high level classical training at the Royal College of Music and the University of Leeds, Tobie followed a more unconventional path in Jazz. His jazz training was gained on the road, by traveling the North of England busking. Since learning the craft he has frequented high profile venues across the country including Birmingham Symphony Hall, St. John's Smith Square and Leeds Town Hall. He has also toured Europe with notable gigs at leading Sarajevo jazz club 'Jazzbina' and the Mostar Gipsy Festival. He is currently director of the London Gypsy Jazz Festival, as well as having his own record label, Future Fable Records. As part of this year's festival he will be headlining alongside guitar legend Fapi Lafertin, widely recognised as heir to Django Reinhardt's crown.
A versatile musician, he plays in a variety of styles including Gypsy Jazz (a la Django Reinhardt!) and also American Jazz/Bebop/Swing. His repertoire ranges from baroque era classical (Bach, Vivaldi...), modern classical (Ravel, Prokofiev...) to contemporary Jazz, Funk and Blues!

His stories are populated by a sort of Scottish-Runyonesque cast of characters, some of them long-gone pals of his father and uncle, who were both professional musicians. However, on stage, Bruce Adams takes the playing side of things very seriously.

Saxophonist Vasilis Xenopoulos was born in Athens and started playing clarinet and piano at 9 years of age. He started on the saxophone at 13, and continued his music studies at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory in Athens. He showed great potential from the very early stages of his student years and gained a great deal of experience by playing with some of the top names in the Greek jazz scene.
In 1999 Vasilis was awarded a jazz scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston MA. There he studied under Billy Pierce, George Garzone and Andy McGhee.
In the same year he represented Greece in the European Jazz Youth Orchestra and toured with them in many European countries.
By 2002 Vasilis had moved to London and continued his studies under the guidance of Eddie Harvey, Stan Sulzmann, Jimmy Hastings and Pete Cook.
Vasilis formed his first Quartet in 2005 and gradually established himself as one of London’s up and coming jazz saxophonists. As a jazz musician he has worked with some of the best musicians in the British jazz scene, such as Jim Mullen, Steve Waterman, Alan Barnes, Derek Nash, Bruce Adams, Martin Shaw, Nigel Price, Ray Gelato and many others. On an international level, he has appeared with a variety of top performers such as sensational pianists Hiromi, and Jason Lindner.
In 2009 he formed his current ensemble “The Xtet” and their debut album “Loud City” containing 8 original compositions was released on 33Jazz Records in 2011 to much critical acclaim.
Vasilis has appeared in many guises, as guest soloist, as band leader or as saxophone section leader in jazz venues and jazz festivals throughout the UK. He is currently lead tenor in the Steve Taylor Big Band, and in the Ealing based Sound of 17 Big Band.
His explosive style means he is in great demand as a saxophone player for popular music and as a session musician.
“One of the most fiery young saxophonists around blazes a path through the hard bop repertoire” (The Times)
…”A bright newcomer on alto and tenor saxist Vasilis Xenopoulos”… (Evening Standard)

Robin Aspland is an outstandingly accomplished pianist. As an accompanist, his taste is impeccable and, as a soloist, he finds unexpected delights in whatever material he addresses. He has worked with a vast array of leading jazz musicians: George Coleman, Bobby Watson, Eddie Henderson, Ronnie Scott, Steve Grossman, Kenny Wheeler, Dave O’Higgins, Art Themen, and many others. His ability to find new and exciting approaches to harmonic material has made him a favourite with some of Britain’s best known singers including Cleo Laine, Claire Martin, Georgie Fame, and Van Morrison.
Robin played on the soundtrack of The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), also appearing briefly on-screen, and for actress Jane Horrocks on her 2000 album 'The Further Adventures of Little Voice'.

Alan Barnes and David Newton have been playing together for over 40 years. These multi award-winners cover a vast repertoire from Louis Armstrong to Chick Corea and play with an empathy that can only come with long experience. The emphasis, as always, is on swinging, accessibility and interplay. Expect a hugely entertaining programme of straight ahead jazz flawlessly played and interspersed with lots of anecdotes.
Alan Barnes is a prolific international performer, composer, arranger, bandleader and touring soloist. He is best known for his work on clarinet, alto and baritone sax, where he combines a formidable virtuosity with a musical expression and collaborative spirit that have few peers.

His latest project is the Simon Spillett Big Band featuring the cream of the UK jazz scene and dedicated to performing the arrangements of Tubby Hayes, many of which have not been heard performed live since Tubby passed away in 1973. Watch out for them at festivals across the country throughout the year!

His stories are populated by a sort of Scottish-Runyonesque cast of characters, some of them long-gone pals of his father and uncle, who were both professional musicians. However, on stage, Bruce Adams takes the playing side of things very seriously.

BRUCE ADAMS (Trumpet and Flugelhorn): Not only is Bruce one the jazz scene’s most dramatic and stimulating performers, he is also a tremendously affable companion. A band-room with the Glaswegian Mr. Adams present is a happy and riotous place. His stream of jokes, anecdotes, and hilarious observations reflect an early immersion in show-biz, and a keen eye and ear for the many quirks of human nature.
His stories are populated by a sort of Scottish-Runyonesque cast of characters, some of them long-gone pals of his father and uncle, who were both professional musicians. However, on stage, Bruce Adams takes the playing side of things very seriously.
He cut his musical teeth on solid commercial work – on cruise liners, in dance halls, music halls, and even worked in support of comedy legends like, Tony Hancock and Freddie Starr. He has been a regular jazz poll-winner and with his spectacular range and power on the instrument has been in demand as a lead, and jazz trumpet man.
Bruce has often worked as a special guest soloist with both the Scottish Radio Orchestra and the BBC Big Band. Bruce’s long-running musical partnership with saxophonist Alan Barnes has produced many plaudits and acclaimed recordings.

Considered one of today's finest trumpeters, Enrico Tomasso is a five time winner of the British Jazz Awards and has taken the award for best trumpeter in 2012, 2013 and again in 2016 & 2019!

Considered one of today's finest trumpeters, Enrico Tomasso is a regular nomine at the British Jazz Awards and has taken the award for best trumpeter in 2012, 2013 and again in 2016!

And he cut his musical teeth on solid commercial work – on cruise liners, in dance halls, music halls, and even worked in support of comedy legends like, Tony Hancock and Freddie Starr.

Jim Mullen is regarded as one of the finest guitarists on the planet.
Formerly, having played with organist Brian Auger's Oblivion Express', appearing on the band's first three albums, Jim then joined 'Kokomo' and later toured with the 'Average White Band'.
It was while he was touring the U.S. with this group, in the mid 70s, that he met up and joined forces with the renowned English tenor saxonphonist, Dick Morrissey, and throughout the 1980s, acheived considerable critical acclaim as joint leader of the excellent Vritish jazz-funk band 'Morissey-Mullen'.
Jim has won many music awards including 'Best Guitar' in the British Telecom Jazz awards in 1994, 1996 and 2000.
Recently, Jim has recorded, as part of 'The All-Stars', a collective of session musicians on their Paul McCartney - produced album, 'All About the Music'.
Hailing from Glassgow, Jim usually utilises the same right hand playing technique as Wes Montgomery, that is, using the thumb rather than the plectrum.
